What is Processor

Write a short note on-Processor, Mouse, Scanner,Microphone,VDU.
Answer:
Processor: Processor controls everything in a computer system. It is responsible for running programs and applications on the computer. Without a Processor a computer will not be able to do any tasks, so a computer to function, it has to have a Processor. These are 32 bits and 64 bits Processors available in the market now, AMD and Intel are the two major players in this field. Every Processor has a fixed data processing capability per second which is known as Processor speed. The unit of Processor speed is GHz/sec. The Processor can be referred as the "brain" of a Computer System.
Microprocessor is a single very large-scale semiconductor integrated circuit (VLSI) chip. It is a general purpose processing units designed to execute very large and complex programs.

Mouse: Mouse is the most popular input device in computer system. It is a small hand held device, which can comfortably fit in a user’s palm. It rolls on a small bearing and has buttons of the top. A mouse has a GUI based user interface. When a user rolls the mouse on a flat surface, the graphics cursors moves on the screen and then we can do different function in computer by clicking the mouse button.
A mouse is an input device that functions by detecting two- dimensional motion relative to its supporting surface. Physically, a mouse consists of an object held under the user's hands, with one or more buttons.
Mouse performs the pointing operation through the following four actions:
1.Clicking 2. Double clicking 3. Dragging 4. Right clicking

Scanner: An image scanner is an input device, which translate paper documents into electronic format to store it as a soft copy in a computer. The input documents may be typed text, pictures, graphics or even handwritten material. The copy of a document converted to the electronic format by the scanner will never lose its quality and can be displayer or printed as required. There are two common types of image scanner. These are: Flatbed Scanner and Hand-held scanner.

Microphone: Microphone is an input device which allows us to input voice data to a computer system by speaking to it. We call record our voice or talk to other person over internet through a Microphone. It can also be used to provide voice commands to the computer for different voice recognition software.

VDU: VDU Stands for “Visual Display Unit”.  A VDU displays images generated by a computer or other electronic device. The term VDU is often used synonymously with “monitor,” but it can also refer to another type of display, such as a digital projector, Visual display units may be peripheral devices or may be integrated with the other components. For example, the Apple iMac uses an all - in - one design, in which the screen and computer are built into a single unit.

What do you mean by serial port & parallel port?

Answer: Serial port:A serial port is an interface that allows a PC to transmit or receive data one bit at a time. It is one of the oldest types of interfaces and at one time was commonly used to connect printers and external modems to a PC. Modern serial ports are used in scientific instruments, shop till systems such as cash registers and applications like industrial machinery systems.Compared to a parallel port, the data transfer rate of a serial port isslower. Normally, a serial port is a male port, while a parallel port is a female port. Example Mouse Connectors
The main difference between a serial port and a parallel port is that a serial port transmits data one bit after another, while a parallel port transmits all 8 bits of a byte in parallel. Thus a parallel port transmits data much faster than a serial port. Computers have both serial and parallel ports along with newer technology called a USB (Universal Serial Bus) port.

Parallel port A parallel port is an interface allowing a personal computer (PC) to transmit or receive data down multiple bundled cables to a peripheral device such as a printer. The most common parallel port is a printer port known as the Centronics port. A parallel port has multiple connectors and in theory allows data to be sent simultaneously down several cables at once. Later versions allow bi-directional communications. This technology is still used today for low-data-rate communications such as dot-matrix printing.

What is cyber security? What is its important in modern life?
Answer:The crime that involves and uses computer devices and Internet, is known as cybercrime.Cybercrime can be committed against an individual or a group; it can also be committed against government and private organizations. It may be intended to harm someone’s reputation, physical harm, or even mental harm.

Types of Cybercrime: 1. Hacking 2. Unwarranted mass-surveillance 3. Childgrooming 4. Copyright infringement 5. Money laundering 6. Cyber-extortion 7. Cyber-terrorism

Cyber security: Cyber security is a potential activity by which information and other communication systems are protected from and/or defended against the unauthorized use or modification or exploitation or even theft.
Likewise, cyber security is a well-designed technique to protect computers, networks, different programs, personal data, etc., from unauthorized access.
